Hyundai FanDome 2D Animation

I directed and animated this 2D piece alongside illustrator Roger Wade at Grizzle Animation Studio London

What is the Fan Dome?

The Hyundai Fandome, aka football heaven, is a pop-up at London Kings Cross for EURO 2016. The dome has 360° screens that react in real time to the footy action.

Poet & Vuj – presenters for Youtube football juggernaut Copa90, love Pro Evolution Soccer.

The Sidemen – professional UK gamers, love Pro Evolution Soccer.

The two sides met for an epic afternoon of live knockout gaming action – we had the pleasure of producing the animations for the show.

What we did

Previously, me and Roger had created a 20s animated intro for Copa90’s weekly show ‘Comments Below’. We used the same animation but added a twist to the ending. Instead of Vuj saving Poet’s 30 yard screamer we put the Sidemen in as a wall. After Poet strikes the freekick, the ball smashes Calfreezy square in the face before bouncing out of the stadium, into orbit and through the clouds to football heaven.

I made the intro inside of After Effects using 2.5D techniques. The assets of the Sidemen and Poet and Vuj were also used for web promotions by Hyundai and Copa90.
